Confusion and curiosity ensued when the college erected a chain-link fence on West Campus March 9.
The surprise fence's purpose is to contain the construction of a new amphitheater.
Despite the relative quickness in the fence's appearance, the $289,000 project has been in place since last May, when the facilities committee in the Board of Trustees approved the amphitheater and signed an architect.

Mock registration number three for Banner, the online registration system, took place March 13 and resulted in positive feedback from students.
Over 200 students participated in the mock registration and about 122 student responded to the user-friendly system.

On Friday morning, students in the horticulture restoration class and members of Growing Solutions, a local non-profit organization, got down on their hands and knees to turn a weed patch back into a native habitat.

Yellow flyers pop out from door frames all over Isla Vista. They read, "Stop the conquest of IV!" in all capital letters and demand a boycott of Conquest Student Housing, all courtesy of the Isla Vista Tenants Union (IVTU).
Keith Russell, a City College student senator, is working with the IVTU on a just-cause ordinance to prevent mass evictions like the one that resulted in the eviction of 55 families in August 2006.

This year's theme is "Revolutionary Thought, Revolutionary Action: What Role Does Revolution Have in the World Today?"
Projects may include papers of up to six pages in length or videos of up to 10 minutes in length.

The Friends of the Luria Library are holding their annual book sale and fundraiser on March 22 and 23.
It will be held in the library, in room L-146, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
"The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise money to buy books and equipment for the library," said City College librarian M'liss Garza.

Applications and candidate platforms are due March 30 at 3 p.m.

The deadline for students to file applications for degrees and certificates for spring 2007 is March 30.
Deadline for summer 2007 degrees and certificates is July 2.
"It's really important that the students make the deadline because after the 30, it is a case-by-case review where they would have to meet with an academic counselor," said student program advisor Magdalena Torres.
