CD Review My Chemical Romance

Emo music has taken a new sound. My Chemical Romance has always set the standard for alternative music and the classic Emo look. But with their newly released CD, "The Black Parade," not did they have fresh new lyrics with the similar sounding resonance that we all love to bleed to, but they also have a new face for the Emo generation.… 1 Comment

Electronic Concert Will Stir Senses

You ever listen to a song on the radio and wonder how do they do that? How do they get it to sound so crisp, so clear, so professional? Well that's the idea behind the electronic music/ sound recording classes. This professional sound is what professor Dominic Camardella will be providing, along with the rest of the music department at City College, as they ready for the upcoming electronic music concert to be held at the Garvin Theater this Friday at 8 p.… Post the First Comment

CD Review Mickey Avalon

"Who that dude in a black sedan with two cheap hookers and a Mexican?" There's not much out there quite like Mickey Avalon. Rapping about turning tricks, plastic chicks and his dick, Avalon's out-there style is born and bred from the Los Angeles club scene.… 1 Comment

Winter concert lights up theater

The City College Concert Band wowed audiences with their annual Winter Concert. Sunday at the Garvin Theatre. The house was an eclectic capacity crowd filled with a mixture of students, parents, siblings, senior citizens, and significant others. The show started out with a bang as the band burst into an overture by Hayato Hirose that immediately grabbed the listener's attention as it raised goose bumps on their skin.… Post the First Comment

Physicist falls short of genius

The production of "The Physicists" invokes a few light chuckles and proves entertaining, yet doesn't instill a want or need for an encore performance. The theater was small and intimate with cramped, lush velvet seats that met the stage. Set design was well done in a chintzy way; wood painted to look like marble, lavish drapes over the single window and three black vinyl covered doors faced the audience from down stage.… Post the First Comment

CD Review - MICKEY AVALON
"Who that dude in a black sedan with two cheap hookers and a Mexican?" There's not much out there quite like Mickey Avalon. Rapping about turning tricks, plastic chicks and his dick, the beats are funky as the self-proclaimed junkie spits lyrics dripping with wit and irony.… Post the First Comment
